Our Purpose
The Davis Phoenix Coalition exists to engage and unite the Davis community in eliminating intolerance, preventing hate, and promoting a broader civic culture that embraces all aspects of our diverse community.
The world sometimes fears diversity, and hate crimes sometimes happen in the places you least expect. In 2013, “Mikey” Partida was beaten in Davis because of his sexual orientation. His mother and other concerned Davisites formed the Davis Phoenix Coalition, so that no one would have to suffer what Mikey did ever again.

· Develop an outreach policy with a focus on justice groups, With the purpose to better coordinate education, advocacy, and visibility projects in the broader community and foster climates of safety and respect.
· Develop an LGBTQ+ resource hub to provide more visibility and resources available to LGBTQ+ community. This effort will be led from and highlight our Yolo Rainbow Families, LGBTQ+ youth group and Davis Pride Festival teams.
· Establish a physical space for the Phoenix Coalition in Davis this space will be a place for community members to access and coordinate services, programs, and other events designed to meet the needs of those affected by intolerance and their allies.

There are many ways to help The Davis Phoenix Coalition. The best and easiest way is to spread the word about our mission. The more people we reach the more of an impact we can make. Volunteering is another great way to show support. We are always looking for people to show up ready to help. We also sponsor and support related organizations’ events, multiplying the community’s efforts. Donations are welcome and appreciated. There is no amount great or small that we can’t use to further our reach. We are a nonprofit organization, so every penny donated goes back into making our goals a reality.
